Guided visit of the nursery

Our shopping service includes a guided visit of the nursery to present the different types of plants, planting materials and tools. Our team enjoys counselling our clients on the selection of plants that are most adapted to their situation.

Suitable vegetation

It is easy to fall for the magnificent plants one can find at Jasmin's nursery. But plant species must be chosen judiciously to ensure their survival in a container garden. Many species that thrive in Montreal parks and gardens will not survive a winter in planters, let alone in planters exposed to third storey winds. During the visit, we discuss the style of vegetation our clients prefer, and direct them towards the most suitable species or cultivars. We evaluate the selection of perennials, shrubs, trees, conifers, grasses and annuals. We take into account the lighting of our clients' place, the available space, the construction of the planters and the maintenance they are willing to put into the garden.

Planters

Jasmin's nursery offers a selection of ready-made planters. Our green nest team provides information on the choice of planters in accordance with the plants that please our clients. We discuss the drainage system and options for insulating the planters, which are indispensable if one wants to maintain a perennial container garden.

Choice of soil

Container gardens do not benefit from the resources of in-ground gardens. Drainage problems, diminished aeration, reduced decomposition and organic turnover all contribute to the challenges of maintaining vegetation in planters. One cannot skimp on the choice of soil without threatening the health of a container garden. Our team is pleased to recommend ideal soils and plant food for the garden.

Irrigation system

As long as an external water source is present, it is possible to install an automatic watering system. From the simplest to systems to those that allow the adjustment of water flow to the needs of each container, our team offers guidance.
